What are some life lessons you have had to learn while growing up? Hard way, or easy way—life lessons are always happening. The problem is that we don’t always heed the life lessons we KNOW ABOUT.

Why is this so? Why do we KNOW something, but we don’t DO.

For instance, we know that when someone shows who they are the first time, to believe them. Yet, we continue to believe that the longer we know them, the higher the chance is, that they’ll change. ....Riiiiiiggggghhhht ;-)

>>We know, that if we eat this doughnut, we are gonna’ put on weight. Yet, 200 lbs, later, we ask ourselves, how we got there?

>>We know that if we keeping spending this money, we won’t be able to go on vacation, next year. Yet, 2 years later we complain that we need to get away. We need to go on a vacation.

So, why do we do these things to ourselves? Why do we knowingly and willingly sabotage the things we want in life?

Is it comfort? Is it a lack of confidence in self? Is it lack of willpower? What’s the problem.

Let me tell you what I think it is –I think we don’t learn about this part of life in childhood. They teach us about every subject in school, except LIFE. We learn from falling on our faces enough. That’s unfortunate.

While some of us are smarter than others, and choose to learn from others’ mistakes, most of us learn the hard way. We keep doing things we know are harmful to us, until it becomes such a problem, we have not other choice. I guess that’s why pain exists. To help push us, when we have no other motivation.

It is one thing to know something, but it’s another thing to act on it. We need more life application lessons in school. Figuring this all out as an adult, is just like starting all over again, in school. When we hit 18, we start the Kindergarten of life. Then, we keep getting held back, repeating the same grade over and over again, until we pass the test to move up.

Mhm, mhm, mhm.

Why must we continue to make life harder than it has to be. Why don’t we choose to learn from our mistakes the first time –or better yet, from other’s mistakes?

Don’t you want to stop bumping your head against the wall, to learn? Don’t you want to finally progress in life? Move up another grade? Graduate life’s high school?

I know I do –so let’s do this. Let’s make a conscious choice today…let’s decide that we will take a hard look at the things we keep doing, that hurt us. Let’s decide to stop doing those things. Whether that’s saving money, fighting with our spouses over nothing, taking poor care of our health, or acting up at work…haha let’s make a decision to start making better decisions.

Let’s ACT instead of KNOW. You know better. So do better.

My Challenge To You

This week, I want you to take inventory of all the things you are doing in your life right now, that are sabotaging your efforts to move forward. Pick one of those to work on this week, and consciously choose to do better, EVERY DAY.

We all gotta move on up to the East Side, baby. Will I see you there?

Love,

Chan
