Why do you think people love Oprah?

I mean people of all types…black, white, mixed, women, men, rich, poor, disabled, ambitious, gay, religious, nonreligious, etc....

Let’s review Oprah’s interesting attributes, shall we:

+rich (stinkin’ filthy rich)

+inspiring

+giving

+nonjudgmental

+true to herself

// She's Rich//

Even, though Oprah has a lot of money, she is also very giving. She is constantly pouring her money into projects that give back to the people.

She funded these schools in Africa for young girls, so they could have a proper education, and grow up to have more options as adults. So many young women have expanded their potential because they were gifted with this opportunity.

Now we have more people that will enter into jobs that can give back to others, instead of humans of society, that are constantly looking out for their own well-being and only living to survive (which is not their fault). We have more individuals that can contribute to expanding the potential and blessing the lives of others.

//She's Inspiring//

Oprah inspires so many people to be their best selves. She inspires people to look at other perspectives. She challenges people to think. She urges people to consider what life might be like in someone else’s shoes, so that we can have more empathy for the human race.

No matter what you are going through, every single person matters. Oprah helps people to understand this. Although people behave in ways that are harmful to themselves or to others, Oprah helps people give others another chance.

Oprah was raped when she was younger, and did not allow what someone did to her, stop her from reaching her full potential. Not only does she pass this message on to others, but she helps others to see that…even when people suffer grave tragedies, they deserve to thrive in life.

As people learn from their own mistakes, they evolve. While we don’t all have access to the tools that push us to self-reflect so that we can grow into better people, Oprah provides a small caveat into people’s lives, so they can utilize her message to do so.

//She's Giving//

Most of society grows up to be selfish, and to look out for themselves. So while Oprah may be giving them free value, they are secretly being given an opportunity to better themselves by consuming Oprah’s content.

She may have free trips, and free houses to give away, or just a free show to watch with lots of valuable information for the human soul…but because she gives of this so freely, more people consume it.

Think about it, if Oprah charged to watch her show, or never had free giveaways in the audience, how many people do you think she would reach?

Exactly.

So, because Oprah gives so freely of what she has, people are blessed with her overflow, every day. If Oprah did interviews based on what she could get from it, we wouldn’t learn from all of the great gurus, and thought leaders she interviews. If she didn’t truly sit down and get to the bottom of issues, with everyday people, we wouldn’t learn. It would just be entertainment. Then less people would benefit from what Oprah has to offer.

What’s the point of having so much, when there is no one to share it with.

Not only does Oprah share it with others, but she does it every day of her life, with as many people as she possibly can.

If you have the gift of knowing your purpose, or having excess in wealth in any other way, you would actually gain more by sharing that with others. & that’s what Oprah does, every day of her life.

//She's Nonjudgmental//

There are many different levels of impact. Every person that is meant to lead or influence, has a different level of impact on consumers. Think of Iyanla Vanzant for instance. While she may have a different style of approach, she impacts the lives of people on a deep level, and inspires change for those who want change, and can see the value in her methods.

Not everyone will receive Iyanla as she means to effect them. However, there are people who need to be talked to on the most challenging, and riveting level, so they can see how the damage they are causing to themselves, is effecting them.

Others may not need the message delivered this way, in order to change. Those might be people more prone to listen to Oprah, as they feel less judged, less challenged, but still inspired to be better. Make sense?

So while Oprah might have a lighter, and less direct approach to challenge a person’s way of thinking, she still inspires others to look inward, because of her nonjudgmental approach.

Feeling as if someone wants to understand you, and wants to help you, can be the difference between a person reaching out for, and following through with change, and completely shutting down.

When consumers see Oprah do that for others, in the way that she does, they see relatability –pain in another person as they feel it. Due to this similarity, they feel like they aren’t alone, and if this person can challenge themselves to get help, so can the consumer 😉

//She's True to Herself//

Oprah, said herself, that she was told that she wasn’t attractive enough to be on television. When she was very young, and into journalism and reporting, she was prepping to be a news anchor. However, she was told that her eyes were too far apart, and her skin was too dark, to be broadcast on television, as is. If she wanted to change some things about herself, she would have a greater chance of getting put on tv.

Despite this criticism, Oprah didn’t change sh*t. She continued to do her job well, and perform above and beyond, which eventually convinced people to take a chance on her, despite their reservations about her looks.

Look where that change has gotten her today. Where do you think Oprah would be if she opted to get plastic surgery, or change her looks in a way that fit beauty standards of the time?

She wouldn’t have been relatable, real, or genuine, which is what people love about Oprah.

Seeing Oprah inspire, give, and love people JUST THE WAY SHE IS, is what draws people to her, more than anything.

If Oprah can impact people, being true to herself, people pay attention. They don’t have to say, well people only listen to Oprah, because she’s good looking, or that she only got to where she did in life, because of her looks.

No, Oprah got where she did, because of hard work, and integrity. Staying true to her purpose and passion, allowed her to achieve greatness. Being herself, and sharing her gift with others, has impacted the masses. It is because Oprah is who she is –that she is so loved.

//My Message To You//

If you are an influencer, leader, ambitionist, or just a person who wants to be the best version of yourself, I encourage you to take a look at yourself. How are you moving toward your best self?

  • Do you give your best at your job, everyday?

  • Are you doing work that operates in your passion/purpose?

  • Are you living a fulfilling and abundant life, because of your gratitude?

  • Are you living a giving lifestyle (giving of your gifts, love, care, overflow)?

  • Do you have anything to give? Are you taking care of yourself, so that you can be blessed enough to gift your overflow of blessings to others?

  • Have you fully owned and stepped into your purpose?

  • If not, why not? What’s stopping you? What do you fear? Have you tried? Do you know what your passion or purpose is in life?

If your answer is no, to any of the above questions, I encourage you to turn those NOs, into YESses. Everyday.

This is my expectation from you, as a person that matters. As a person that has purpose and passion. As a person that is apart of this world. You are here for a reason, and its up to you to figure that out, and move on it.

With love and blessings,

Chan
